2014 Annual Meeting in Review

 

48th Annual Reunion Meeting

 

The 48th Annual Meeting was held on 27 April 2014 at The Hotel Fullerton in Fullerton, CA. The program began with the Call to Order by President BG Charles Ebner, the Pledge of Allegiance led by COL Al Diaz and invocation by Colonel (Ch) Don Forden. BG Ebner introduced special guests. The buffet luncheon followed and was enjoyed by all.

The highlight of the meeting was our speaker COL Steve H. Mogan USA Ret. Steve Mogan is the Chief of Operations, Defense Coordinating Element, Region IX, Oakland, CA. He is a Department of the Army Civilian assigned to US Army North (Fifth Army). Mr. Mogan is responsible for all DoD Support to Civilian Authorities (DSCA) operations under the Defense Coordinating Officer (DCO) for Region IX. Each DCO is designated by the Secretary of Defense to coordinate all DoD DSCA activities with other agencies within each FEMA region of the US Northern Command area of responsibility. After his talk he was presented with a book in token of our appreciation.

BG Ebner introduced new members and presented a certificate to MSG Frank J. Harrison III for becoming a life member. The election of the board for 2014-2015 was conducted by LTC Donald L. Wirth. All members up for re-election opted to stay on the board and were unanimously re-elected. These included LTC Donald L. Wirth, CW4 Leyland A. Carson, COL Lydia Collins, CSM Arnold Greenberg and LTC James T. Wright. In addition COL Richard Garza was nominated and elected to fill the open position vacant for the past year.

Tickets were on sale during the event for chances to be winners in the opportunity drawing. Once again we thank all the members who donated in support of this fund raiser. Pan Mitchell has again gone above and beyond presenting us with patriotic baskets this year. We greatly appreciate her generous contributions in support of our organization.

After the opportunity drawing, Chaplain Forden gave the benediction and the meeting was adjourned.

Remember this is our once a year opportunity to gather for an enjoyable event. Remember any current or past member of the Army Reserve is eligible for membership.
