46th Annual Reunion Meeting

 

The highlight of our annual meeting on 22 April was our speaker MG Michael Schweiger, Commander of the 63rd Regional Support Command. His was topic was "Update on 63d and the Army Reserve".  He took us through the transitions that have taken place, the background to understand the rationale for these changes, the implication of the mobilizations and now drawdown of forces and projections for the future.  His presentation with slides was incredibly informative and interesting to all who attended. His message was very relevant to of interest to all of us.    As a token of appreciation for his presentation he was presented with a copy of WWII Reminiscences by COL John H. Roush Jr. The book includes individual experiences of men who were served during that time. Two of the articles were written by one of our members BG Robert Upp who was present at the meeting and autographed the book for MG Schweiger.

We presented a plaque was to SGM George Ichimura for his years of taking countless pictures to memorize our events. He not only takes countless pictures, he prints them and presents them to the individuals as well as the association for publication.

This year’s Eagle Award was presented to LTC Beverley A. Houghton for outstanding service as President and member of the Board of Governors and contributions to the Association.

We once again thank all the members who donated for our opportunity drawing.  Pan Mitchell and her mother have gone above and beyond presenting us with patriotic baskets and this year was no exception. We humbly appreciate her generous contributions.

Our meeting concluded with the election of the board for 2012-2014 conducted by LTC Donald L. Wirth.  CPT Danny Staggs requested to leave the Board because of health and Col Jim Wisenbarker was nominated as his replacement. All members up for re-election opted to stay on the board. The slate of nominees were elected by proclamation.
